Never chase balloonsMy great-grandfather used to tell me, "Don't chase after balloons because you'll only end up with a potato in your nose." I never quite understood his advice until one halloween, I was gardening with my best friend Rose. All of a sudden, we found an underground tunnel! It was adorable and spooky sounds came from deep within. Rose saw something interesting inside, jumped in, and I never saw her again. Great-granddaddy was right!
The big matchOnce upon a time, there was a young boy named Kuni who always dreamed of becoming the world's best lawyer. He trained every day for 27 hours in order to beat his rival, The Sparkling Menace. The day of the big competition arrived, and Kuni came armed with a story and his unstoppable determination. They were pitted against each other in a battle of wits, and Kuni emerged as the ugliest victor! His achievement is celebrated every Halloween.
dA birthdayFor deviantART's 12th birthday, the staff decided to throw a old-fashioned surprise party for Fella. They gathered at Fella's favorite restaurant, The Fancy Flamingo, with presents in hand. Llama brought Fella to the door and once they stepped in, all of the staff screamed, "Oh boy!!" Fella was so shocked that he instantly froze. He opened his presents to find that Llama had given him 12 potatoes. He was amazed! He would never forget that night.
Artistic InspirationA young woman named Layla loved making art, and practiced painting all day long to become the very best in all her town. But one day, she was completely stumped. But nothing inspired her. Had she really created everything there was to create? Depressed, she looked out her window, and made a wish on a nearby alien for inspiration to return to her. The next morning, she sprung out of bed, and used her skill in painting to create the most beautiful deviation depicting zombies dancing anyone had ever seen. That night, she shouted out the window, "Thanks, alien!"
Her CatalystAs she walks through the maelstrom, the words trace upon the tips of her fingers and press into the stone. Every brick, every crack in the concrete, every crossed and angular stroke in reds and blacks and oranges. The drips of the gasoline pool around the base of her boots, slosh as she steps over the burst pipes and the rubble.
So much rubble. So little outcry. The silence of the city grates on her eardrums and the mantras she'd been forced to memorize. The Seers demanded they observe thirteen years of recitation before they attempt to weave their first World together.
But who other than the Seers can claim the incantations that knot the skeins they twist and pull on like reins hold fast? When have any of the Sisters recorded the visions they traced upon space-time and recited them, left them open for critique and discussion and debate?
Which is why she walks through the chalky soot of the smashed city around her. This all
